What are the weight capacities of the hammocks?

We have two types of hammocks available, each made of a different material:

Signature Hammocks & Hammock Chairs
Our most popular hammock, the Signature Hammock is handwoven with ultra-soft Performance Yarn™  that's versatile, durable, and deeply comfortable. Our Triple-Weave construction combines 150,000 ultra-soft loops to cradle you weightlessly.

Our Performance Yarn™ is a solution-dyed acrylic that is weatherproof, UV-safe, and will not fade. This yarn is also mold, mildew, and rot-resistant. Hammocks made with this yarn are perfect for outdoor use.

Cotton Rope Hammocks 
Hand-dyed and woven with 100% natural cotton, providing the comfort and softness of our Signature with the boho feel that comes from a thicker weaving yarn. It’s the classic way to hang.

The hammocks in this collection are intended for indoor or selective outdoor use. For outdoor best practice, we recommend that our customers use the hammock and then safely store it, to protect the natural fibers from the elements when not in use.

What are the Hammocks Made of?

You can hang any of our hammocks in a range of dimensions, and all can have their hanging reach extended using our "Go Anywhere" Hammock Straps. Here are some of our recommendations:

Classic Size Signature Hammock (10ft long)- a rough estimate would be to have the ends about 10’ apart and about 5’ off the ground. With that in mind, you could hang it with the ends in a range between 8’-11’ apart.

Family Size Signature & Cotton Rope Hammocks (11ft long) have a recommended hanging range from between 9’-12’ apart and about 5’ off the ground.

Chair Hammock (4ft wide x 7 ft deep) needs an overhead hanging set up with connection points about 4’ apart and about 5’6”-6’ off the ground. With that in mind, you could hang it with the ends in a range between 3’6”-5’ apart.

If you're planning to drill hooks or install connection points directly into a wall or post, you'll likely find some great tips at your local hardware store! They are usually incredibly helpful with installation. We often recommend a "porch swing" hook, which has more flexibility.

What are the optimal Hanging Dimensions?

Every hammock has care recommendations, but they are super sturdy and easy to care for! Our Signature + Hanging Chair Hammocks are made from a weather-safe Performance Yarn that can be left out in the sun + rain with no worries about fading, mildew, etc. (We call these ones "lazy-proof" because you can leave them out all season!) The most important precaution of hammock care is to avoid snagging the yarn with sharp objects, hooks, jewelry, buttons, etc.
